Flying to South Bend

South Bend is served by four main airport options. South Bend International Airport is just minutes from campus and downtown. American, Delta, and United are airlines that typically serve this airport. Roughly two and a half hours from South Bend are Chicago, IL, and Grand Rapids, MI. Chicago is home to two airport hubs: O'Hare International Airport and Midway International Airport. If you would prefer to avoid Chicago traffic, Grand Rapids, MI, is an alternative.

Travel Note

Travel from Chicago

If you choose to fly into Chicago O'Hare or Midway, please keep in mind the time change, as Chicago is in Central Standard Time, and Notre Dame is in Eastern Standard Time. Both Chicago airports are about a two and a half hour drive to South Bend. You can rent a car, use a rideshare service, or take the South Shore Line train from the city directly to South Bend. The train will stop at the South Bend International Airport.

Travel Note

Travel from Grand Rapids

If you would rather avoid Chicago traffic and opt for an easier drive along the Lake Michigan coast, you can choose to fly into Grand Rapids, MI, through the Gerald R. Ford International Airport. To get to campus from Grand Rapids, you can rent a car or use a rideshare service. Airfare is available here from Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, Southwest, and United Airlines.

Transportation in South Bend

Public transportation can be limited in South Bend, and our reception venue is about a 30 minute drive from the Notre Dame campus. As such, we highly recommend renting a car if you are flying into town for the weekend. Alternatively, you may connect with other guests who are driving to arrange a carpool or rely on ride share services such as Uber and Lyft.
