Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Elliott Vargas and Giuseppe Marinello
Saugatuck is a beautiful beach town known for its art, marinas, and scenery. It’s a popular vacation destination for the LGTBQIA+ community and Joe and Elliott encourage our guests to explore and have some fun while in town. Check out The Dunes Resort, one of the largest LGBTQIA+ resorts in the country, as they host many events such as karaoke and drag queen bingo! Below are some of the couple’s favorite spots.
Oval Beach

Oval Beach

690 Perryman Street, Saugatuck, MI 49453

Celebrated around the world for its beautiful sweep of shoreline and backdrop of rolling dunes, this is the main beach in town and the most happening place to soak in the sun!

Uncommon Coffee Roasters

Uncommon Coffee Roasters

127 Hoffman Street, Saugatuck, MI 49453
, (269) 857-3333

This cute, LGBTQIA+ friendly coffee shop is the perfect stop for your morning with its cozy indoor space and lovely outdoor garden. You’ll definitely spot some rainbow photo ops here!

The Old Boat House

The Old Boat House

730 Water Street, Saugatuck, MI 49453
, (616) 405-6688

Joe’s preferred waterfront restaurant over The BARge. He loves the easygoing vibe and being able to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. This spot is also home of the Retro Boat Rentals where you can drive your own retro looking boat!

Saugatuck Dune Rides

Saugatuck Dune Rides

6495 Blue Star Highway, Saugatuck, MI 49453

If you’re feeling adventurous, book your own sand dune ride! Exhilirating, fun, and a great way to overlook the town from high up. Even better to book with a large group, just get ready for some cheesy jokes.

Outside Coffee Co.

Outside Coffee Co.

450 West Center Street, Douglas, MI 49406

Not in Saugatuck but in Douglas right across the street from the Root Beer Barrel, this coffee shop is so quaint with so much fun outdoor seating and even a cute shop inside. If the mango matcha latte is on the menu, Elliott highly recommends!

Mount Baldhead Park Trail

Mount Baldhead Park Trail

Mount Baldhead Park Trail, Saugatuck, MI

This 1 mile loop trail is great for hiking, walking, and trail running. Climb 302 steps to Mount Baldhead where you might see a few deer like we did and descend to grassy coastal sand. If you feel up to the challenge, you can use this trail to get to Oval Beach!

Douglas Root Beer Barrel

Douglas Root Beer Barrel

501 West Center Street, Douglas, MI 49406

Historical concession stand that started serving hot dogs and root beer in 1952! We loved grabbing a bite to eat here and enjoying a fresh root beer float, just watch out for those bees!

The BARge

The BARge

528 Water Street, Saugatuck, MI 49453
, (269) 455-5068

Classic, waterfront bar in the heart of downtown Saugatuck! Weather permitting, the rooftop is a great spot to enjoy the water and watch the boats float by.

Bowdies Chophouse

Bowdies Chophouse

230 Culver Street, Saugatuck, MI 49453
, (269) 455-5481

If you’re looking to have a high end, steakhouse dinner before or after enjoying our delicious wedding food, then you’ve found it. Joe and Elliott are still dreaming about their mouth watering lobster mac, caesar salad, and juicy steak.
