We recognize that the COVID-19 pandemic effects people in various ways and we want to honor everyone's needs in response to it. Therefore, you are welcome to mask and social distance at our events if you choose to do so, and we will do our best to be hospitable to your needs, though masking, social distancing, and vaccination will not be required. As the wedding approaches, please let us know your concerns, as we would love to be hospitable to all our guests.
As head of the Holy Family, St. Joseph courageously took Mary to be his wife when he was afraid, organized safe travels to Bethlehem, found the stable for Christ’s birth, and protected his family by fleeing to Egypt. During these times, Joseph is silent (without ever saying one word in the Scriptures!). His docility cultivates receptivity and obedience to God’s will. Also, he lives a life of intimacy with Mary and Jesus during the “hidden years” in a way that no other person did, welcoming the divine into the domestic with hospitable love. St. Joseph is also the patron of workers, since he was a carpenter who supported his family through his trade. He shows perseverance, diligence, and self-gift, providing solidarity with laborers and illustrating the self-giving nature of work and family life. We feel blessed to share our wedding day with his feast day, and we pray especially that our family can mirror his trust, courage, receptivity to God’s will, and domestic intimacy with Christ.
