Scott and Ellie met at Guilford High School in Rockford, IL during their sophomore year. They ran in the same circle, but were officially introduced in a Business & Technology Concepts class. Scott put chewed gum in a brand new computer CD-ROM drive and Ellie thought he was nuts. Over the next 10 years, they remained close friends. Each made an effort to stay in touch through college courses, basic training, internships, and tech school. Slowly but surely, their relationship started to change, whether or not they were willing to admit it. Scott was adamant he didn't want to date anyone; Ellie was positive they were right for one another. Fast forward to May 24, 2014, while they were attending Brew at the Zoo in Atlanta, Scott introduced Ellie as his girlfriend. She was left swooning. Looking back, this was probably Scott's first lesson in "happy wife, happy life." The next few years brought both great and trying times. Long distance was difficult, but also oddly rewarding. When things got tough, Scott always reminded Ellie they didn't have to fight the day-to-day monotony other couples experienced, they were always overly excited to spend time together, and they never crowded one another. As Ellie's rotational program moved her all over the US and Scott deployed around the world, they made it work. In their time together, both have continued to encourage and support each other's endeavors, including promotions and new companies, and a career field move to Air Force Special Warfare. Life sure has changed for these two kids, but through it all, they've learned to be persistent in love.
Scott and Ellie had a fun 2018 Memorial Day weekend planned, including another trip to Brew at the Zoo. First stop on the tour was a visit to Savannah, GA, one of their favorite places. As they got ready to go out for a couple drinks, Scott requested an Uber which dropped them off at Forsyth Park, a beautiful and historic landmark in the city. As he led her around the area, Scott brought Ellie to a large fountain so they could make a wish. It was just a few steps later that he abruptly stopped walking and got down on one knee. Ellie's response? "Yes! [Expletive], YES!" Although her choice of words wasn't perfect, the moment, the ring, and the guy were.
2018 was quite the year for Scott and Ellie. Not only did they get engaged, but after four years of living in different states, they finally figured out a way to move in together. With Scott being re-stationed to Fort Campbell and Ellie finding a new job, they both packed up U-Hauls and headed to Clarksville, TN, about an hour north of Nashville. They didn't even have all the boxes unpacked before they decided to expand their little family... They adopted the perfect puppy, affectionately named him Smash. 2019 has been filled with food tastings, dress fittings, florist appointments, and all things wedding. As every day passes, Scott and Ellie grow more excited to start their life together, celebrating with their closest friends and family. Life couldn't be sweeter!
