Travel Note
The Schlitz Audubon Nature Center is on Lake Michigan, east of Lake Drive, approximately 1 mile east of I-43 and 15 minutes north of downtown Milwaukee. Important Note! Many sections of Lake Drive are closed for repavement in Milwaukee, Shorewood, and Fox Point, including the stretch immediately south of the nature center. Please follow the Port Washington Road detour if needed. From I-43: Exit the freeway at Brown Deer Road and continue east on Brown Deer for one mile. As you approach a curve to the right where Brown Deer meets Lake Drive, move into the left turn lane. Turn left onto Lake Drive (north) and then immediately turn right to stay on Brown Deer Road (east). Drive for 1/8 mile and look for the Schlitz Audubon sign to the right. Turn right into the grounds and follow the road to the parking lot and the main building. Going North on Port Washington: Turn right onto Brown Deer Road right after you pass the Village of Bayside sign. Continue east on Brown Deer for one mile. As you approach a curve to the right where Brown Deer meets Lake Drive, move into the left turn lane. Turn left onto Lake Drive (north) and then immediately turn right to stay on Brown Deer Road (east). Drive for 1/8 mile and look for the Schlitz Audubon sign to the right. Turn right into the grounds and follow the road to the parking lot and the main building.
