On a fateful day in June of 2018, Ellie and Jonathan were first brought together through the awkward icebreakers that their shared orientation leader led. Ellie claims that the first thing Jonathan ever said to her was, “Are you that girl from that Disney show Dog With a Blog?” (Look it up, you’ll know exactly which character he was talking about). They made conversation and exchanged Snapchats, but nothing more progressed. It wasn’t until the first weekend before school, where Samford puts on an array of activities for freshmen to socialize, that Ellie recognized Jonathan and they striked up a friendship. Ellie went home the next weekend and told all her hometown friends about this cute boy she met. Little did she know that these exact friends were going to be bridesmaids at their wedding! The friendship soon turned into a relationship, much to Ellie’s dismay (she insisted they be friends first), and on September 21st of that same year, after being stubborn and making them be “friends” for a full month, Ellie finally accepted the honor of being Jonathan’s girlfriend. Since then, the two have experienced the entirety of their college years together and all that accompanies the journey. The two may have not gotten God’s initial hint when He placed them in the same orientation group, but they are forever grateful for the second nudge that He gave on that weekend in August.
