Ellie and I met at The Covenant School of Dallas which we both attended from kindergarten to 12th grade. I finally built up the courage to ask her out after homecoming our junior year, and we started officially dating on December 7th, 2019. About a year and a half into our relationship we began a two-year period of long distance during which I went to the University of Georgia, and she went to Texas A&M – Corpus Christi to play soccer. After two years she transferred over to Georgia, and we had some of the best years of our life meeting friends and watching the Dawgs on Saturday. On July 9, 2025, I asked Ellie to marry me and am so excited to spend the rest of my life with the girl that has been there for me in so many ways. Now being just months away from marriage, I have done a lot of reflecting on our relationship. “When did you know Ellie was the one?” is a question I get quite often and never really know how to answer. Maybe it was when my desk got flipped around to face her in Mr. Crane’s 6th grade class because I wouldn’t stop talking to her. Maybe it was when we had to hide in a parking garage when a tornado crashed our first date. Maybe it was when she beat me at putt putt our first time playing, and I realized that I would have someone that would always bring out my competitive side. Maybe it was when we went through years of long distance, learning how to communicate and trust while being hundreds of miles apart. I realize now that every moment has played a special role in the love that we have built. Love isn’t a spark; it’s a fire that takes time and effort to tend. It’s a journey that requires commitment and sacrifice. Ellie – I am so blessed that God has put you in my life and I will never stop choosing to love you.
