From a chance meeting on a boat cruise to building a life together in New York City, our story has been full of adventure, laughter, and perfect timing. We met on a boat cruise in 2024 when Ellie spotted Jack wearing a Miami jersey and went over to ask if he was from Miami. As fate would have it, we realized we were both headed to the same concert later that night! We exchanged numbers so we could meet up afterward, not knowing that one conversation would change everything. We ended up seeing each other again that night and then the following evening at a bar, and from there, we stayed connected through texts, FaceTime calls, and constant excitement for the next time we’d see each other. Ellie visited Jack in NYC in April and June, and Jack finally made his way to Dallas in August. Somewhere between exploring the city, laughing nonstop, and not wanting the weekend to end, we officially became boyfriend and girlfriend. Long distance wasn’t always easy, but it brought us even closer. With so much love and support from our friends and family—who helped cover work shifts, watch our animals, and cheer us on—we made countless trips back and forth between Dallas and New York. In February 2026, Ellie officially moved to NYC, beginning our next chapter together. Just a few weeks later, we were headed to Mexico for vacation when our plane had to turn around mid-air because of protests happening there. While it definitely wasn’t part of the plan, it ended up leading to one of the best moments of our lives. The following week, we changed destinations and flew to the Dominican Republic instead. There, on the beach surrounded by the ocean and sunshine, Jack proposed. To make the moment even more special, Jack and his family surprised Ellie by flying her family in to celebrate with us. We spent the rest of the week celebrating together with the people we love most, and it became a memory we’ll cherish forever. Now, some of our favorite moments are the simple ones like walking through Central Park, exploring the West Village and new corners of NYC, traveling back to Dallas to spend time with friends and family, and escaping to New London, Connecticut, where we spend our days on the beach listening to music, playing games, sailing on the boat, soaking up the sun, and making memories with family and friends. What started as a chance meeting on a boat cruise has turned into the adventure of a lifetime, and we can’t wait for all the chapters still to come.
