Despite Ellie growing up four houses down from Chris’ aunt and uncle in a close-knit neighborhood, the two never crossed paths until June of 2019. Ellie was one year out from her undergraduate years at UVM, and had recently begun accelerated nursing school at MGH Institute of Health Professions. Chris, a UMaine grad, was five months into his career as a mechanical engineer at Artisan Industries. Their story begins at an anniversary party in the backyard of Chris' aunt and uncle's home in Medfield. The two had very different days leading up to the introduction. Ellie was informed that there would be very handsome, single, young man at this party. To Chris, this was just another Englert-Noonan family party, meaning he wouldn’t need to be on his best behavior. A story frequently told by Chris: he first spotted her while cutting kielbasa at the kitchen window. She was standing outside on the back patio, chatting away with his friends and family, glass of white wine in hand. It only took him about four to five liquid courage’s until he finally mustered the nerve to walk up to her and ask one, very important, question: "Do you want to play cornhole with me?" By the end of the evening, they exchanged phone numbers and planned their first date to the Yardhouse in Dedham. The date went well, despite Ellie almost ruining her chances by ordering buffalo cauliflower as an appetizer (he did NOT like that...) Their relationship grew steadily through an equal appreciation for food, drink, travel, experiences. Chris impressed Ellie through his surprisingly good cooking skills, paired with his newfound love for all wines (thanks to Ellie!) In four years, they enjoyed two trips to Italy, several weekend getaways to Maine and New Hampshire, and countless summers on Cape Cod with their families. Fast forward to the week of July 14th, 2023. Ellie is on her annual family vacation at the Siino’s home on Eastham, Cape Cod. Meanwhile, Chris is home and religiously checking weather reports. On the Wednesday before the weekend, the weatherman very confidently states, “If you have any plans this weekend, cancel them. We will be getting a lot of rain and hurricane-force winds.” This was not the good news Chris was looking for; but, he said to himself, “rain or shine.” Friday, July 14th was a very gloomy and rainy day in Eastham. Ellie spent the day avoiding the outdoors at all costs - which, to the Siino’s, typically translates into one thing: bowling. It wasn't until the drive home that the sun decided to finally show itself, peeking out from behind a veil of grey clouds. Ellie’s cousins pitched the idea: the sun is out, let’s drive down to the beach for sunset. She thought, “why not?” As Ellie walks onto the beach, to her surprise, there was Chris, a 9 iron’s shot away, armed with a bottle of champagne, a picnic basket, and the most important question of all. She said Yes.
