Like many modern couples, Ellie and Zack met online. They immediately noticed how easy it was to talk to one another and were able to bond over their many interests. They were both nerds and had a lot of things in common while also having differences that made them able to grow as a couple. Ellie and Zack both collected “nerd” things whether it be Zack’s action figures or Ellie’s Funko Pops, and together they were able to meld their collection into a fun hobby the two could enjoy together. Another thing they immediately bonded over was their love of horror movies. Ellie had recently begun dipping her toes into the genre with podcasts and YouTube videos about them as she was too afraid to watch many on her own. Zack had been a lifelong fan of the genre and had done a podcast with his friends BJ and Matt. Zack had a lot of fun showing Ellie both classic and new horror movies that she was too afraid to watch alone, but together they could enjoy them. Ellie was able to share her love of cooking, college football, and heavy metal with Zack, who had no idea about any of them. She often teased Zack at his complete inability to cook and gave him plastic knives to practice with. Luckily for Ellie, Zack was not a huge college football fan so when she revealed her love of the Michigan Wolverines it did not faze the Ohio born and bred boy at all. Together they would watch Ellie’s team play and win, culminating in a National Championship that Ellie said she won all by herself! The two of them have had many adventures together throughout their loving relationship. Whether it be Ellie getting sick at their first Renaissance Festival, or her braving the city that shall not be named to go to PowerCon. Ellie even faced the dreaded haunted house and haunted hayride with Zack and loved the hayride. Zack was able to experience his first metal festival and enjoying a quiet and internet free cabin with Ellie while watching horror movies and Food Network. Their love of horror culminated in a grand adventure to HorrorHound, a horror convention with many celebrities, where they met the hosts of Ellie’s favorite podcast, Dead Meat, and the actors of Reanimator, which premiered exactly 40 years before their wedding day. The grandest adventure began on a Sunday night while they were rewatching one of their favorite animated shows, Avatar: The Last Airbender. In the past the two would often update their little letter board with funny quotes, or inside jokes. While Ellie was busy with laundry, Zack decided to begin making a message in secret, as they often did. Zack told Ellie to turn around as this message was the best one yet and wanted it to be a big reveal. With her back to the board Zack told her to turn around and read it. As she read the message “will you marry me?”, she saw Zack on one knee with the engagement ring in hand. Before Zack could finish the important question Ellie answered with a resounding yes. Thus, the greatest adventure of their lives began! They are still writing this story and know that no matter where it takes them, it will take them there together.
