This is a must-do diner for anyone driving up from NYC. We make sure to stop here every trip to the Catskills. Not only is this diner famous to locals and Manhattanites alike, their incredible dishes are incredible enough to warrant a cookbook. Our favorite dishes are the skillets! Features the classic charm of a hometown diner, but also an outdoor bar/patio where beverages are served out of an airstream.
At 260 feet, this towering, two-tier waterfall is the tallest in New York State – higher even than Niagara Falls--and one of the most stunning sights in the Catskills. Kaaterskill Falls is the perfect destination for a day hike. Considered by Native Americans to be the resting place of the creator, a sacred place for the Mohican people who called the Catskills home, Kaaterskill Falls has captivated the hearts, pens, and paintbrushes of poets, painters, filmmakers, and photographers – becoming part of larger, artistic folklore spreading from the Catskills to the rest of the world.
Runs every Saturday from 9am-1pm (the perfect pre-wedding outing!). Built in 1893, the market is held within and around the oldest standing Round Barn in NY. You can enjoy breakfast or brunch at the many food vendors and picnic tables. Artisans also sell jewelry, soaps, quilts, wool, wood products and more.
The most efficient way to see the Catskills--the Zipline Adventure Tour at Hunter Mountain is the highest, fastest, and longest zipline canopy tour in North America and the second largest zipline in the world. Soar for 4.6 miles through the Catskills, from mountain peak to mountain peak and back again, reaching speeds of up to 50 MPH. But don't worry, they have other ziplines if high and fast aren't your cup of tea. A family-friendly option!
