Having a sister for most people means you gossip, fight, and cry together. Emily and I didn’t have the typical relationship because of our age difference, but our friendship has grown into a sisterhood that shows our appreciation for each other. Our younger years may have been distant, but when you have a sister as mature, sweet, and committed as Emily you know that you will always have someone praying and supporting you till the end. I am so happy we’ve gotten to experience adult life together and I know our relationship will only get better as time goes on. I love you Emily and you’ve been the greatest big sister ever. Imitation is said to be the highest form of flattery. Well, I hope to imitate Allyn’s relationship with her husband, Logan, in my relationship with Lucas. She is so strong in her faith and her love for her person that I can’t do anything, but admire her. She loves me from afar better than most people get love from the people they see every day. Keeping in touch consistently and making sure I feel safe and comfortable in all the changes in my life. Allyn has made such a significant impact on my life and my outlook. Her energy and enthusiasm make me optimistic for the future and what the Lord has in store for me and her. Love you more than you know, Allyn!

Her heart bursts with love for me and my family and I will forever be grateful for her being there for me like nobody else has. There’s never been a person and never will be a person who is more perfect to be my best man than my closest friend. My brother has been my mentor and idol my whole life. No other person in my life has shaped me more than Nick and I credit him for so much of my success in my life. From success in basketball to success in my relationships with friends and family Nick has been the best friend and role model that I wish every young man finds in their life. We’ve been inseparable since kids and we will remain inseparable as men.

Sam and I met in middle school through our love for basketball. I had never met anybody with the same taste in music and same love for sports as me and my brother, so me and Sam hit it off immediately. Sam’s love for UT sports even outranks mine. He is so overly invested in the Vols that I knew he’d be able to handle the ups and downs of our friendship. Everyone in their life needs that cornerstone of a friend that never wavers and is the same through thick and thin, Sam is my cornerstone.

Nic Moore is the most loyal and steadfast friend I’ve ever had. From the day we met at a high school football game to the last day of College at UT me and Nic would talk or hang out almost every day. Nic is a guy you want in your corner when things get dicey. He’s both a fighter and a lover. Nic has treated my family and friends and if they were his family and always goes out of his way to check up on me consistently. A passionate guy with a heart of gold Nic is a guy I know will always be a part of my life no matter how far away.

IJ and me have one of the most unique dynamics of any of my friends. We met when he was a Graduate Assistant on the basketball team my Freshman and Sophomore year. At that time, we looked at each other as colleagues with the same sense of humor. Over the next 4 years it grew to best friends who work together doing what we love. IJ is like a big brother at work and has pushed me to create a work ethic that matches his. Nobody has looked out for me in what I want to be my career more than Ira James.

When I met Ellie’s family, I got to talk William, Wendy, and Emily quite a bit, but I didn’t talk to Will often. This left me with the feel that Will was the one who would be the most skeptical of me. Come to find out Will ended up being the one who made me feel the most welcome and comfortable. From the times that me and Will roomed together on all beach trips to him introducing me to sting ray gigging, Will has been so evident in his efforts to make me feel welcome and comfortable that it allowed me to feel at home with the Barnett’s.

Blackjack or Black was a friend that I never thought I’d have. When he first joined the basketball team Brad asked if I wanted to go to lunch with them and my response was simply “no new friends”. I’ve always seen myself as a “4 quarters rather than 100 pennies” kind of person when it comes to friends, so I was lenient to add new friends. Well Black was a perfect fit as a friend. His demeanor and attitude represent his maturity and liveliness perfectly. Black has been one of those friends who you feel comfortable talking about anything with but also a guy who knows when to leave someone be. Black keeps it real 100% of the time.
Brad Woodson

I always say jokingly that me and Brad are situational friends. That we were forced to be friends since the day we were both the only white guys on the Tennessee basketball team. This isn’t completely true though. I’ve found over the years that Brad and me have gotten as close as brothers and that the whole time it didn’t feel like me and Brad were meant to be friends because we are more like brothers. We know everything about one another and spend every day together going through life being our complete selves with each other.

John has been in my life longer than he has been my friend. When you’re the younger brother usually you get shunned by your older brother’s friend group. This wasn’t the case for me all of nicks friends have been amazing to me but me and john have had a special bond. If you met Me, Nick, and John you would think that me and John are the brothers based on our interests. John and I are so similar that there is nothing we can’t talk about and our conversations can stretch hours over the phone. John keeps me updated on every movie and video game that is announced and we have shared hundreds of hours conquering different worlds and games online.

Mack is the single funniest guy I’ve ever met. To add perspective, he refers to me PukeFace PaddleFoot. Mack and I spent all of high school hanging out at each other’s houses and quoting any and all Jim Carey movies. Usually when someone is the funny guy in the group, they are also the attention seeker and bad decision maker just as myself. Well Mack is neither of those things. Mack’s faith and principles are admirable, and his maturity speaks volumes to who he is as a man. Mack can take the worst of days and make them the best of days with an optimism that outshines the sun.
