We LOVED the Vintage Tasting! There is also a lovely patio restaurant if you want to grab a bite to eat.
If you're up for it take a lovely 15-20 minute stroll along the river from the hotel to the vineyard. We recommend enjoying a tasting and ordering a picnic basket that you can enjoy on the idyllic patio. As is common in Portugal--the pours and food portions are generous! We enjoyed their basic picnic and still couldn't finish it all! Keep in mind that the walk is cobblestones and has a bit of a climb.
Situated at the top of a hill overlooking the stunning Douro Valley, this pop-up restaurant serves regional Douro dishes using traditional techniques, including wood-fired cooking. The menu is matched with the Symington family’s exceptional portfolio of Douro wines and Ports. We were skeptical of this vibey spot, recommended by our wedding planner, as neither Matt nor I would consider ourselves "foodies" and assumed it would be a splurge spot beyond our unrefined palate but this restaurant ended up being one of the highlights of our trip! The food is excellent, affordable, homestyle Portuguese cooking with the best view in the Douro! We HIGHLY recommend you make a reservation and spend one of your evenings sipping wine and watching the sunset at Casa dos Ecos!
