Things To Do

We have begun to update this page with vineyard & activity suggestions for the Douro Valley and Porto. We are also building out a document with sample itineraries, sightseeing suggestions, and food/drink suggestions for Lisbon, Porto, and the rest of Portugal to assist those that may be extending their stay. Please note that this is merely a starting point with our suggestions and helpful web links. This will continue to be updated as we have a chance! Please feel free to reach out if you have specific questions or are trying to decide between options--we're happy to help! You can find the guide at this link by copying and pasting into your browser: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LCL88h6LlWbU_t-AX_SWmI2EKGF84pMRonpYuZcDyUg/edit?usp=sharing

Graham's Port Lodge

141 Rua do Agro, Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto 4400-281, Portugal

We LOVED the Vintage Tasting! There is also a lovely patio restaurant if you want to grab a bite to eat.

Quinta da Roêda | Croft Port

N323, Pinhão, Vila Real 5085-036, Portugal
, +351 22 010 9830

If you're up for it take a lovely 15-20 minute stroll along the river from the hotel to the vineyard. We recommend enjoying a tasting and ordering a picnic basket that you can enjoy on the idyllic patio. As is common in Portugal--the pours and food portions are generous! We enjoyed their basic picnic and still couldn't finish it all! Keep in mind that the walk is cobblestones and has a bit of a climb.

Quinta do Bomfim

Quinta das Carvalhas

Casa dos Ecos by Pedro Lemos

Pinhão, Vila Real 5085, Portugal
, +351 935 452 975

Situated at the top of a hill overlooking the stunning Douro Valley, this pop-up restaurant serves regional Douro dishes using traditional techniques, including wood-fired cooking. The menu is matched with the Symington family’s exceptional portfolio of Douro wines and Ports. We were skeptical of this vibey spot, recommended by our wedding planner, as neither Matt nor I would consider ourselves "foodies" and assumed it would be a splurge spot beyond our unrefined palate but this restaurant ended up being one of the highlights of our trip! The food is excellent, affordable, homestyle Portuguese cooking with the best view in the Douro! We HIGHLY recommend you make a reservation and spend one of your evenings sipping wine and watching the sunset at Casa dos Ecos!
