Wade and Ellen Kate first met, as many people do these days, on the dating app ‘Hinge’. We’re not totally sure who ‘liked’ the other person first but Wade is a safe bet. EK had put in her profile that she had gone to Ole Miss, so when they matched, Wade opened with a ‘hotty toddy’ message and off the conversation went. The two made plans for a first date in the coming weeks. It was early February of 2021, and the world looked like it was in the process of opening back up after the previous year. Unfortunately, the Texas freeze delayed the two’s plans. But Wade was persistent in making sure they would have that first date, and later that month the two met for dinner at Coltivare. A quick dinner turned into a three and a half hour conversation as the two immediately hit it off. Subsequent dates came and went and things moved quickly. Within a few months, Wade had gotten Ruca's approval and the two were ‘Instagram official’. A few months after that, making plans to move to New York City together. To outsiders it might have seemed like a risky proposition: two people who’d only been dating for 6 months moving into a 700 sqft apartment in a city a thousand miles away from home. But for the two of them, it was a no-brainer. Sometime around January of the next year Wade had seen enough, and decided Ellen Kate was the girl he wanted to marry. A trip to France sealed the deal and there the two got engaged. They have managed a move back to Houston, trips with friends and family, job changes and everything else in between in the meantime. They’re both very excited for the upcoming nuptials, and are very grateful to everyone for joining!
