John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge
THIS IS A MUST DO!!! Located just steps away from the hotel. Enjoy a walk across the bridge taking in the sights of the city and river. At the bottom of bridge next to the hotel there is also a river walk with newly painted Murals. (Fun Fact: The same artist painted the riverside murals in Paducah as well!) After walking across the bridge explore downtown Cincinatti with baseball/football stadiums, bars/restaurants, and riverfront park.
Devou Park
Devou park is a wonderful park just a short drive away from the hotel. It offers the best view of Cincinnati which is the exact address of this. Around it, the park offers many walking or biking trails!
Newport on the Levee
Newport on the Levee, which is a very short drive from the hotel, is an indoor/outdoor area with multiple dining options, bars, 3 breweries, shopping, entertainment, and is also home to the Newport Aquarium. Also new at the Levee is Bridgeview Box Park, an open-air shipping container park with either local concepts serving food and drink overlooking picturesque views of the Cincinnati skyline as all of this is on the river. - Located just next to Newport on the Levee are the Hofbräuhaus Newport that has a huge outdoor lawn and home brewed beer + New Riff Distillery, with very popular bourbon. - Parking is located underneath in a parking garage.
Mainstrasse Village
This area is 15 minute walk or short drive from the hotel. This entire neighborhood is a Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This street has four stops on The B-Line, our NKY bourbon trail: Wiseguy Lounge at Goodfellas Pizza; Bourbon Haus 1841; Bouquet Restaurant; and Old Kentucky Bourbon Bar. Also has countless restaurants including Chako – a Japanese bakery; Frida 602 – specializing in tacos and tequila; Lisse Steakhuis, serving steaks and Dutch fare; Otto’s – famous for their brunches and southern dishes; Dee Felice Café – a New Orleans inspired jazz restaurant; Mac’s pizza – a local favorite hangout for pizza, beer, and delicious cocktails.
FINDLAY MARKET
This is a wonderful inside/outside market, only a 12 minute drive without traffic! This is Ohio's oldest continuously running market and has over 50 vendors if everything you could imagine. Best part about this place is that it is inside an area called OTR (Over the Rhine) which is an urban area with the coolest shops, restaurants, and breweries (including Rhinegeist)
Wunderbar!
There are so many great places to eat at the areas we've listed above but we put this one in because it is one of our favorites. It is a small german bar with fantastic homemade sausages and Ellen's favorite beer cheese pretzel. Does also have brunch on sat/sun. Saturday morning, they will usually have a jazz trio playing as well. This is a short drive from the hotel but worth it. Please note that it is small so have a backup plan if you choose it.
Braxton Brewing Company
Here is one of Covington's best breweries. It is only a 12-minute walk from the hotel and if you go you must check out the rooftop!
Smoke Justis
Aside from all the great spots in the areas above here is one of our favorites as well! This is an urban sports bar with TVs for anything you want to watch, a massive bourbon collection and good food. Has plenty of space and is only a 5–7-minute walk from the hotel. Does have its own bourbon which is what is pictured.
Krohn Conservatory
The Krohn Conservatory is a conservatory located in Eden Park within Cincinnati, Ohio. This is a lovely place to spend an hour or two, with a wonderful butterfly exhibit and a lot of gorgeous greenery. Fun place for kids, but also located within Eden Park a great area for hiking or exploring.
