In the peak of COVID times, two unlikely souls found each other through an online video meeting about books. Led by Dr. Wood, these two along with half a dozen others shared what literature they enjoy reading. While this may seem like an insignificant encounter and one should not judge a book by its cover, a person can be judged by their book preferences. Wooed by Ellen's beauty and sophistication, Sean Purdue left the meeting determined to meet this girl in 3D. The next logical move for people in this generation was to slide into the Instagram DMs. Upon receiving Sean's message, Ellen was confused for she did not remember who he was or that they had been in a meeting together. However, she saw he went to UMKC and decided to respond. In the socially pressurized space of the Instagram messaging page, the future lovers bonded over their mutual enjoyment of hiking, the desire to not die alone, and music (what are the odds that both like classical and classic rock). It was at this time that Sean suggested going into the woods together (bc of the shared love of nature!). Small 5ft Ellen did not want to meet tall, red-head stranger boy so far away from the public eye and suggested brunch instead. They had two outings before Sean decided he needed a break. So, Ellen headed home for the summer, never to hear from Sean. Although she was disappointed that he did not keep in contact, Ellen experienced a major turning point in her life. As she emerged from the summer with a newfound vigor for life, Sean subtly slunk close to her again. He hesitated with the looming prospect of having to go long distances only a couple of months into the relationship (which didn't happen) but finally graced Ellen with the privilege of dating him on August 22nd, 2021.
