Two of our great friends set us up! Ryan Kenny worked with Kyle at Fidelity. They became good friends instantly and even closer while studying for the CFP together. Brittany Kenny worked with Ellen in the ICU at Sloan Kettering. They started working at Sloan on the same day, went through a grueling orientation together and quickly became good friends. One day, Brittany came up with the brilliant idea that Kyle and Ellen should meet. For anyone who knows Brittany, she was relentless in her pursuit of setting these two up! After multiple attempts of encouraging Kyle to reach out, Brittany urged Ellen to take matters into her own hands... which of course she did! We had our first date at Tavern 5 in Pompton Plains, NJ. We talked for hours. After the waitress came to take our order for the third time and we weren't ready she asked "what is this your first date or somethin'?" in her best NJ accent! We didn't want the night to end and couldn't wait to see each other again. From there, the rest is history!

After a long day of traveling, Kyle decided to make dinner reservations at 6:15 PM. I proceeded to tell him he was crazy, we would never be hungry by then and should see if we could reschedule to 8 PM. His response, "I really think we should call it an early night, we are going to be exhausted from traveling." Anyone who knows Kyle would know that this is completely opposite from what he would actually do... but I didn't argue... of course not! On our way to the elevator he told me we were going to have a toast on the rooftop for our first vacation post-quarantine. It was absolutely beautiful. The waves were crashing along the ocean and behind us, the sun was setting over the city. It was just the two of us. He got down on one knee, I said "YES!" and we popped some champagne. It was perfect!
