It all started with a cheesy one-liner in October 2019… Ellen had downloaded the dating app Hinge for just a few days when Jon had sent her a message. Ellen checked out his profile and saw him wearing a Buckeye Donuts shirt and so she decided to give a funny response back. Soon after, Ellen and Jon had their first date at Grandview Cafe, at the end of which Ellen asked “Can I give you a hug?”. One date turned into many, with Ellen knowing she had found a keeper when Jon made his “famous” buffalo chicken mac and cheese for her. Despite dating from a distance, with Ellen in Columbus and Jon in Athens at the time, they spent quality time with each other on the weekends, met friends and family, and even lived out of a camper van for an entire week without getting sick of one another. Through all the craziness that was the pandemic and Jon moving even further away for grad school in Bowling Green, Ellen and Jon never stopped making time for each other. By November 2022, Jon knew he had found his “falcon flame” and began to make plans to get down on one knee. On February 25th, 2023, Jon brought Ellen to the Gahanna Creekside area by telling her they were getting tacos and margs. To Ellen’s surprise, Jon pulled out a ring and asked her to marry him (she’s still waiting on that queso though). They were able to celebrate with family and friends that night, with their dream of living together and getting married becoming a reality! We are so excited to celebrate our love and marriage with all of those who are important to our story!
