Ocean Beach, NY is home to some of the best sunsets in the world and is located on Fire Island. It is only accessible by ferry out of Bay Shore, NY. If you are traveling by air, the closest airport is in Islip, NY (ISP). The next closest airports are JFK and LGA. When booking your flights plan to land early in the day so you have time to get to the ferry in Bay Shore. When booking your return flights, plan an afternoon/early evening flight to account for the ferry schedule. From NYC,you can take the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) from Penn Station or Jamaica to Bay Shore to connect to the ferry. If you fly into JFK, the airtrain goes to the LIRR. There are shuttles from the Bay Shore train station that will take you to the ferry for a minimal charge ($6/person). If you are driving, your destination is Fire Island Ferry Terminal, 99 Maple Ave, Bay Shore, NY 11706. There is parking at the ferry terminal and 72 hour metered parking at the Bay Shore LIRR station.

Our friend Christine has a house in Ocean Beach. You can reach her at the email above if you wish to purchase a bed in a share house with other guests. The price is $350 per person for Friday (9/23) to Sunday (9/25). The house is completely renovated with wifi, bikes, beach chairs, 1.5 bathrooms, an outdoor shower and spacious deck.
