When we think of our relationship, one word always comes to mind: stubbornness. That might not sound the most romantic, but it’s the very thing that has carried us here. From the moment we went on our first date on 2/3/23, we were both determined, stubborn even, to make each other a priority. Life moved fast. Between the miles that separated us, full-time classes, and full-time jobs, there were countless reasons to let things fade. But we refused. We were stubborn enough to make time, to make it work, and to make each other feel seen and loved. Week after week, no matter how busy or tired we were, Saturday became our day, our little act of defiance against distance and exhaustion. That same stubbornness helped us through late-night homework, early morning shifts, and when the time came, the ache of being eight hours and a timezone apart. It gave us strength in the hardest moments and joy in the best ones. Some people might call it love, and they’d be right, but for us, it’s always been a special kind of love: the stubborn kind. The kind that refuses to give up, that keeps showing up, that chooses the other person again and again. It’s that stubborn love that brought us here, and it’s that same love that will carry us through everything still to come.
