First Thursday, July 4

First Thursday in the Pearl is a district-wide celebration that occurs on the first Thursday of each and every month (which happens to fall on the 4th of July). Combining a rich and thriving art scene with some of the best happy hour menus around has resulted in an event that has quickly become the place to be in Portland each month! The "hub" of First Thursday (music, food, and artist booths) takes place on NW 13th Avenue, just four blocks from the Canopy Hotel.

Waterfront Blues Festival, July 4-7

The Waterfront Blues Festival is the largest celebration of blues, soul, funk, and rhythm & blues west of the Mississippi.

Multnomah Falls

A beautiful drive through the Gorge is worth your while! Stop for pictures at Multnomah Falls. Up the road, check out the sturgeon viewing pond in Cascade Locks. Drive a quick 30 miles further to Hood River to enjoy breweries, shops, and to watch some of the top wind surfing in the world.

Sauvie Island

Sauvie Island is 10 miles north of Portland and is a popular destination for hiking, spotting wildlife, and visiting the farmlands which provide Portland with our freshest produce. Visit Cistus Nursery, Martha Stewart's all-time favorite.
