We met in high school (go Quakers!) through mutual friends. At first, we were just friends who sometimes ate lunch together when we had the same free period. Before long, we were talking every day. After Ellen went with Adam to drop off his Science Research Symposium poster followed by lunch at Horsefeathers in Tarrytown, we made it official and started dating.
Back home in Chappaqua for the weekend, Adam suggested a walk around Rockefeller State Park, followed by lunch at the Blue Hill and Stone Barns cafe. While walking around the lake on the way to lunch, Adam got down on one knee and popped the question! Ellen said yes (a big surprise after 8 years of dating!) and was very impressed by the wooden ring box Adam had made. Ellen continues to roll her eyes at the fact that the ring was held in place by Nerf gun darts wrapped in felt, but decided not to change her mind after learning this.
