Things To Do

There is lots to do in the Tucson area, particularly if you are extending your stay for a few days.
Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

2021 North Kinney Road, Tucson, AZ 85743
, (520) 883-1380

We went here the last time Tim was in town - he thought the cacti garden was like being on another planet. If you want to see the best of Tucson plants and animals, come here!

Sabino Canyon Recreation Area

Sabino Canyon Recreation Area

5700 North Sabino Canyon Road, Tucson, AZ 85750
, (520) 388-8300

A convenient paved hike that showcases a lot of the natural vistas of Tucson. It is an easy hike, and great for those with children. If you are tired from all the dancing at the wedding, there is a tram to the top of the mountain :)

Rosa's Mexican Food Restaurant

Rosa's Mexican Food Restaurant

1750 East Fort Lowell Road, Tucson, AZ 85719
, (520) 325-0362

Elle's favorite Mexican food in Tucson. There are a lot of great options (El Charro, BOCA Tacos), but there is nothing like Rosa's chips and salsa. Elle and her best friend Renee spent many an afternoon ruining their dinners with chips and salsa, and there were many Stuart family dinners spent here too.

Saguaro National Park

Saguaro National Park

3693 S Old Spanish Trail, Tucson, AZ 85730
, (520) 733-5153

Probably what Tucson is best known for, Saguaro National Park is a beautiful encapsulation of the desert Southwest. It is huge, so be prepared to bring lots of water if you visit!

Baja Cafe on Broadway

Baja Cafe on Broadway

7002 East Broadway Boulevard, Tucson, AZ 85710
, (520) 495-4772

A local spot for a fantastic, hearty brunch. Their specialty is eggs benedict with a southwestern twist. There's three locations so make sure you go to the Broadway one (and get a pancake for the table).

El Charro Cafe

311 North Court Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85701
, (520) 622-1922

It's probably the most famous Tucson restaurant and claims to have invented the Chimichanga. The story is first owner of El Charro was making a burrito and accidentally dropped it in a deep fryer. She wanted to curse but there were kids around so she had made some thing up and blurted out "chimichanga!" No idea if that is true, but it is a fun story.

Ventana Hiking Trail

Follow designated trailhead signs at Lowes Ventana Canyon Resort,

Moderate to difficult hike for those who want to get a real workout in. The trail has beautiful panoramic views, but you have to work for it! Brings lots and lots of water if you try it.

For all the days along the way
