We're getting married!

We met one hot night in January 2020 at an Internations meetup event in Buenos Aires. Elle was in her digital nomad phase, spending a few months in Argentina, with ambitions to keep traveling the world. There was an immediate spark. We spent the whole evening talking and laughing. It was easy, and playful, and flirty and honest. Nearly a month later, Elle was in a taxi on her way to Rio de Janerio for Carnival, and Fede texted. Confused as to why, all this time later he was reaching out, she didn't think much of it. He texted again and asked her to call. They spoke at the gate while she waited to board. After Rio, Elle went to the US with plans to visit her family, just as the pandemic became real and her nomadic ways ground to a halt. Over the course of that spring, Elle & Fede kept talking. Fede came to her Zoom bday party in May. For two years, the theme was "vamos a ver" (we'll see). The pandemic dragged on, and Argentina's borders remained closed. Elle traveled throughout the US, to Roatan, Honduras for a winter, and eventually settled in Santa Fe, NM. Fede remained the one source of consistency. They kept talking, building a solid friendship with the promise of romance. Finally, at the end of 2021, when the borders opened, Elle returned to Buenos Aires and met all of Fede's family for the first time at New Year's Eve. And that was that.

Despite having talked on the phone for almost two years, we had only physically met once. So when Fede picked met me at the airport Starbucks, after Christmas in 2021, the first thing I said when I stood up to hug him was, 'You're real!' And he smelled really good :)
