We recommend booking early with British Airways, Delta, or United, using your credit card with the best travel benefits. You can fly into either Glasgow (GLA), the closest airport, or Edinburgh (EDI). Be sure to include an AirTag in every checked bag for peace of mind. Travel Note
Staring this year the UK insituted a simple travel visa, the ETA. It costs £10 to apply. Everyone travelling needs to get an ETA, including babies & children. Your ETA lasts for 2 years. You can travel to the UK as many times as you want during that time. If you get a new passport, you will need to get a new ETA. You will usually get a decision within 3 working days, but you may get a quicker decision. Occasionally, it may take longer than 3 working days. To apply you need: * The passport you will travel with - not a photocopy or digital passport * Access to your emails * A credit card, debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay You will need to upload or take photos of the: * Passport * Face of the person applying You do not need to enter your travel details. Rental Car

Outside of the city centers, Scotland is quite rural. You'll have the most freedom and the best experience exploring the country in a rental car. If you're not used to driving a manual, don't worry—automatic cars are easy to find, and driving on the opposite side of the road is simpler than it sounds. For the best rates, pick up and drop off your car at an airport. Use the AmEx Travel Portal (typically the cheapest) or the Costco Travel Portal to reserve your vehicle. We've never paid more than $35 USD/day for a mid-sized SUV. The smaller the vehicle, the lower the cost. Hybrid vehicles are also available. We do not recommend renting an electric vehicle unless your accommodations offer charging stations. If you're traveling with an infant, you can either bring your car seat with you for free on any major airline or rent one through the rental company.
Train
For travel between Edinburgh (including the airport) and Glasgow, ScotRail is an excellent option. Be sure to download the app ahead of time.
