International Travel Information

We’ve discovered over the years that international travel has some “features” not found on domestic flights, if you’re concerned or need help navigating your booking, please let us know. Flights: Brisbane (BNE) is the easiest airport for international travel, as there are direct flights from many major US cities. There are also many single connection flights through Sydney and Auckland, all delivering you to Brisbane. If you’re are scheduling Australia time prior to the wedding, and can’t make for the Welcome Party on October 7th, the Sunshine Coast Airport (MCY) is an option from most major Australian cities, and will get you closest to the wedding location. Hotels: Cooloum is a beautiful Eastern Australia beach town, long on charm, sunrises over the water, boutique hotels and Airbnb lodging opportunities. Hotels and Airbnb don’t book further out than a year, so we will return with a reminder, suggestions, and finer points to consider (ie: proximity to shuttle locations and group activities) when bookings open. Visa: All people traveling internationally must get an Australia holiday visa. This is done on the Australia Home Affairs website or mobile app. The cost is around $20AUD (currently ~US$13). Currently, the suggestion is to apply for your visa at least 4 weeks prior to your travel date, but we will monitor and notify if we see any changes. There are several unexpected items that prohibited, predominantly food related (we had a cranberry incident) so please check the Can You Bring It In website (linked below) prior to packing. Weirdly, due to culinary exchange policy, there is a requirement that all travelers bring at least one full-size bag of Crunchy Cheetos. Liam or Ella can help with processing these once you arrive. https://www.abf.gov.au/entering-and-leaving-australia/can-you-bring-it-in
