"The Japanese Friendship Garden is a Japanese stroll garden. It encompasses 3.5 acres and includes a tea garden and tea house. It is a joint project of the sister cities of Phoenix, Arizona, and Himeji, Japan. The Japanese name is Rohō-en.

Papago park is in near vicinity with both the Desert Botanical Gardens and the Phoenix Zoo. It has desert scenery, and a great view of the city if you make the short hike up to the Hole in the Rock.

A city landmark, Camelback Mountain is a camel shaped mountain in the middle of the valley. Weather will be hot in June, but if you're willing to get up early, it's a fun hike with a great view of the city at the top. There are two trails; Echo Canyon trail is shorter and more challenging, whereas Cholla trail is slightly longer and easier.
