The Arkansas River runs right through town, and you can stroll or hike on trails that follow the river. You have to see the beauty of Buena Vista to believe it: everyone who comes to this town falls in love with it. From rafting, to hiking, scenic drives, off-roading, zipling, fishing, horseback riding, hot springs, alpine lake, to shopping, breweries and art, Buena Vista (and nearby Salida) boast ton's to do.

Feeling ambitious? Earn your Colorado kudos by climbing to a 14k foot summit! HOWEVER if you are coming from sea level, please be careful. These are no joke!

Mount Princeton Hot Springs

Experience some Colorado Hot Springs! This resort features two naturally warm hot spring pools as well as natural river-side hot springs that are maintained by the resort. Please be aware that the river side hot springs are not the easiest to get to and require a bit of clambering. If you want to make a night of it you can stay at the resort and have access to their Spa with more hot spring options!

Comanche Drive-In Movie Theatre

The Comanche Drive In is located 3 miles west of Buena Vista, Colorado on Highway 306. It is one of about 335 drive ins left in the country, and one of 8 remaining in Colorado. Nestled at the head of the Arkansas Valley, at an elevation of 8000 ft, surrounded by magnificent peaks, the Comanche is not only noted for its beautiful view, but is also the highest in elevation of any Drive In in the US.
