After 7 1/2 years of dating and 3 months of engagement, we decided that we did not want to wait any longer...so we eloped! With the fanciest clothes we could find in our closets, a grocery store bouquet of flowers, and hearts bursting with love and excitement, we headed over to the Marriage License Office to gather the paperwork, and then we went off on our adventure. We eloped at the Washington National Cathedral's Bishop Garden on Friday, August 13, 2021 (yes that's right—we eloped on Friday the 13th). The ceremony did not include any witnesses, and it was self-officiated, so it was truly a very intimate affair. We exchanged our vows in the Norman Court in front of the Thistle Fountain and then proceeded around the rest of the garden for pictures. With all of the beautiful flowers in bloom, the aged stone architecture, and the moss covered fountain dripping a gentle ode to us in the background, the whole scene really felt like something from Romeo and Juliet. After our ceremony, we celebrated with a delicious berry Chantilly cake and a dinner out on the town. Though our wonderful friends and family could not physically be with us during this beautiful day, you all were with us in our hearts and thoughts, and we look forward to celebrating with you when we can!
