We met during a March Madness tournament in Tacoma, Washington. And our AmeriCorps friend was hosting a corndog day party. Never having a corndog, Ben insisted I try one. We both decided we were not going to attempt the challenge of eating 10 corndogs and 100 tator'tots and drinking 10 beers, initiating our bond. As I took him to the airport the next day to fly back to Texas, we passed Mount Rainier which was "out" that day, clear as day. We thought this must be a good sign, because 10 months of the year it's hidden in the fog. As I watched Ben fly away, I thought what a blessing to have him fly into my life. We vowed to keep in touch, writing letters, sending gifts, long phone visits... and soon enough, Ben moved back to Washington. The rest is history...
