As the ceremony will begin (hopefully) promptly at 3:00 P.M., we recommend that you arrive 25- 30 minutes early to get a good parking spot if you will be driving, and a good seat in the church.
After the ceremony, the wedding party and photographer will go off for a short photo shoot. It is then that we ask guests to make their way back to Smithfield for a cocktail hour at the venue. Kelly with KCR Events will be there to usher you in and answer any of your questions! The cocktail hour is scheduled for 5:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M.
The bridesmaids will be in floor length gowns and the groomsmen will be wearing kilts. Either cocktail or formal attire will work! Additionally, we recommend you bring a nice jacket to wear as we will have an outdoor space at the reception.
As much as we both love children, we ask that you make arrangements for them to stay home the night of our wedding. This will be an adult-only function with the exception of wedding party children, and teens at our discretion. We hope you understand and we send our love to your little ones.
Kelly with KCR Events can help you speak with the D.J. about when you may make a toast.
A delicious Italian buffet is what's for dinner, followed by cake of course. We will have water, unsweetened iced tea, lemonade, beer, and wine available for our beverages.
Kelly with KCR Events will be at the event prepared to answer any of your questions. She will be able to check with the caterer regarding your food restrictions.
Smithfield Winery does not offer its own parking, however, there is plenty of street parking available as well as Smithfield Center's lot across the street at 220 N Church St, Smithfield, VA 23430.
We are planning to have the D.J. cut the music at around 10:00 P.M. That is when we will have the sparkler send off and begin clearing out the venue.
We recommend Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (PHF) because it's a bit smaller and on our side of the water. If you can't fly in there, then Norfolk (ORF) is your next best choice.
We have Uber and Lyft and multiple taxi services available in this area. We always recommend the former as both have great user interfaces and better prices than the taxi companies. If you do choose to use a taxi service, here are a few and their Google ratings: Orange Cab Company ** Timeline Cab Company, LLC ***** Yellow Cab of Hampton/Newport News ** Aero Cab ***
In Smithfield, we recommend visiting the visitor center at 319 Main St, Smithfield, VA 23430, where you will receive lovely customer service and a map of all you can do in the area. We personally highly recommend visiting Windsor Castle Park at 301 Jericho Rd, Smithfield, VA 23430. There you will find peaceful surroundings, not to mention the breathtaking sunflower field that made Liz bawl her eyes out the first time she saw it. In Hampton, you will find the Virginia Air and Space Center in Downtown Hampton (there are also a few great restaurants and bars in that area -- remember the name Queen St.), Peninsula Town Center for shopping, Sandy Bottom Nature Park, and Bluebird Gap Farm. If you'd like to see the bay, you can also check out Buckroe Beach and Park. In Newport News, you can check out Newport News Park, Oyster Point City Center, The Patrick Henry Mall, and The Virginia Living Museum.
You will find great restaurants in the historic part of town and great BBQ outside of the historic part. We recommend: Taste of Smithfield Restaurant, 217 Main St, Smithfield, VA 23430 The Restaurant at Smithfield Station, 415 S Church St, Smithfield, VA 23430 Wharf Hill Brewing Company, 25 Main St, Smithfield, VA 23430 Bubba-N-Franks Smokehouse, 15147 Carrollton Blvd, Carrollton, VA 23314 Don't forget that Hampton and Newport News are just over the bridge, about 25-30 minutes away, and there are some great options there too!
