Sam and I originally met on St. Patrick's Day 2017. At the time, he was otherwise involved, and I had just moved to the big city! Sam says he remembers what shoes I was wearing...and I vaguely remember he was there. Whoops! A year and a half later when he moved to Charlotte for Krispy Kreme, we were once again introduced by our friends Bethany and Max. For months, we went on very casual dates on Tuesday's...which we called Tuesdates. I found myself loving an otherwise underwhelming weekday. Finally, after my 27th birthday, Sam said what we were both thinking...we had to make this thing official! From then on, I have thought about no one else more. Although we just decided to "date," I think making that first commitment was basically making THE commitment. When you know, you know. Sam's proposal totally shocked me! We had spent the day together running errands (my very favorite activity) and got home to a puddle forming in my living room - the roof was leaking into the ceiling! Panicked, I climbed up in the sweltering attic, covered in pink insulation and rooted around until I found the source of the leak - a single missing shingle. Disheveled, sweaty, frustrated - I was a sight. Ready to put the day behind me, I showered, got in my PJ's and got ready to say goodnight to Sam. I walked to the living room, and there he was on one knee!! Such a gentleman. Visit my Instagram to see the whole thing LIVE. He said that he didn't want to go to my brother's wedding as my "boyfriend" when we were so much more. *Cue the awes* The very best part was a book he made me - I will show it to you anytime! It just further solidified that Sam is the most thoughtful, joyful, funny, smart, witty, hard-working person I know, and it is the widely held consensus I don't deserve him - It's true and I am beyond thrilled to spend my life with him.
At first, we just spent our time farting around town, cooking dinner together, running errands, meeting friends and just really tried to get to know each other. It was on a lot of those sweet dates that I began to realize that I was really falling for Elizabeth. When she took me to a cooking class (just to stand next to me for two hours :) ) I knew we were going to work out. And look at us now...we are getting married! I’m so excited to marry my best friend and enjoy a lifetime full of Rummikub, TexMex, dumb jokes and trips to antique stores. I cannot wait to call her my wife!
