The park offers beautiful hiking trails, swimmable beaches and lakes and gorgeous views. Some of our favorite hikes are Cadillac Mountain (if you would prefer to drive, you need a reservation on their website), Bubble Rock, Jordan Pond trail, Ocean Path (from Sand Beach to Thunder Hole) and Acadia mountain.
Jordan Pond is a beautiful restaurant that overlooks the pond. They serve the best popovers and tea in town! Make a reservation now, they book up quickly!
Some of our favorite things to do in Bar Harbor is shopping, enjoying dessert at the Jordan Pond ice cream shop and listening to the town band on Monday and Thursday nights at 7:30. They also have lots of different restaurants to choose from; some of our favorites include Two Cats Cafe, Rosalies Pizza, Geddys and The Thirsty Whale. On Friday, July 4th there will be a parade and fireworks.
Southwest Harbor is one of our favorite towns; it is a quick 20 minute drive from Bar Harbor. Hop on over to the Common Good for some yummy homemade popovers with fresh raspberry or blueberry jam. While you are there, check out Little Notch for homemade pastries and raspberry pies.
Sand Beach is located in Acadia National Park. If you enjoy cooler 60 degree water, this is the place for you. While you are there, try the Beehive hike. From the summit, you will be able to see gorgeous views of the beach and the park.
Echo Lake is our favorite place to swim when we visit Maine. If you are interested in lounging, check out the sand beach. Or, if you are an adrenaline junkie, head on over to the Bluffs to jump off some rocks. The Bluffs is directly across from the entrance to Acadia Mountain.
