On February 5th, 2017 Nate messaged Ellie on the dating app OKCupid. Even though Ellie thought the message was sweet and included her favorite TV Show, The Walking Dead, she noticed his name at the bottom of the message and decided not to message him back. After deliberation and the fact she found herself smiling at his profile and his message was thoughtful, she decided to reply. They quickly hit it off and scheduled a date for the 8th. Their first date was at Alley 64 in St Charles after she got off work. They talked non-stop and even closed the bar down. Ellie knew Nate was different, and at the end of the night she asked him for a second date. He happily obliged. After that night, they went on several more dates throughout the week and texted each other constantly. It wasn't long before they fell in love. And the rest is history.
My favorite date we went on was the first time we went to Chicago. He planned a whole night for us and I had a BLAST! First we went to the Auto Show and spent a couple hours walking around getting to know each other, flirting and looking at fancy cars. Then he took me to the Watershed, a cozy unique bar underneath Pops for Champagne. We had a snack, I tried my first Moscow Mule (which is amazing with cucumber and locally made vodka, by the way!), we flirted some more, and continued to get to know each other. After Watershed, we went to Redhead's, a basement piano bar. We were easily the youngest people in the bar by at least 15 years, but we really enjoyed ourselves. We listened to live music, had more drinks and continued to flirt. I accidentally broke a glass and spilled my drink all over him. He was such a gentleman about it, he was not mad in the slightest. He just hugged me, told me it was fine, and bought me another drink. During our time at Redhead's, two ladies commented on how cute we were together and asked if we were newlyweds because we seem like we had been together a long time. We both blushed and told them we just started dating. I remember thinking (for the second time in our short time dating) that he was definitely husband material. After we left laughing from Redhead's, our drive home was spent jamming out and loudly singing old 90's songs. Even though every date is my favorite, the specific memory of this one will forever stick with me. I love this man!
My favorite date was our first morning date since we both love breakfast. I picked up Ellie on a 70 degree Sunday morning in February and we drove down to St Charles. At first we tried to go to Egg Harbor, which was entirely packed, so we ended up walking to a smaller, unique restaurant called Nosh (which became our favorite breakfast place). After a delicious meal, we then walked around St Charles. We walked down to the river, sat on a bench and talked for while. We watched all the people, dogs and geese while we got to know each other. We then walked around some more, and shared a smoothie from Starbucks while we continued to walk up and down the streets looking at all the small businesses. We stumbled upon an antique shop and discovered we both loved antiques! We talked for at least 30 minutes outside the shop about our love of antiques and her love of anything nautical-themed. This date was my favorite because we were able to get to know each other in a relaxing setting and enjoy a beautiful day together.
You might be wondering 'Why Tennessee?". Well Elizabeth's brother and sister-in-law moved to Tennessee several years ago, and Ellie and Nate have gone to visit about every other month since they moved. They fell in love with the state like they fell in love with each other. When Ellie and Nate first got engaged and were talking about where they wanted to get married, they both suggested Tennessee.
