Max and Elizabeth met in summer of 2019 while serving as SALTs at Cascades Camp, nestled in the woods at the base of Mt. Rainier. Throughout the two weeks at camp, the two created an impressive amount of jokes and memories that they both hoped wouldn't just stay at camp. By the end of their time as SALTs, Max was smitten with the camp girl that he had just met. Post camp, they continued to establish their friendship with an added barrier of distance. While Max was in Seattle, Elizabeth lived across the mountains in Wenatchee. With an effort to see Elizabeth again, Max naively asked her to her own homecoming and made the journey to be her date. They officially began dating in February of 2020. More traveling took place...trains, shuttles, and a ton of driving. In not much time, the two quickly discovered how long it takes for letters to travel across the mountains. Writing letters then became a part of the weekly routine for 2 1/2 years until they graduated high school. In 2022, Max and Elizabeth started their first year in college at Seattle Pacific University, as well as their first time living in the same city. This brought excitement, but also some trepidation. Would the relationship still thrive if they were around each other all the time? The answer was yes. In the four years since they started dating, Max and Elizabeth have continued to serve at camp together, they've battled health, endured a pandemic, drank a ton of coffee, and pet a lot of dogs. On October 7th, 2023, Max officially asked Elizabeth if she would marry him, and she said yes.
