Liz and Matt met during their sophomore year of college at snowy Syracuse University in central New York. Matt lived next door to Liz's good friends in Watson Hall, the popular on-campus dormitory that only the luckiest of the housing lottery managed to secure. In the beginning, they were just friends, but then Liz started showing up to Watson more often - in between classes, after class, on weekends with no plans - mostly so she could see Matt. Matt's bold and humorous personality drew Liz to him more each day, until she just had to ask him to her spring semester sorority date night. That was the first night Liz began to think that maybe Matt actually likes her too (spoiler alert: he did). They went their separate ways over the summer as Matt lived in Boston and Liz lived in New York, but that didn't stop them from talking every single day. They became best friends in a short period, counting down the minutes to their return to Syracuse in the fall. In September 2016, Matt and Liz decided to make it official and began dating. They enjoyed being young and dumb in college and building a foundation together that would last them almost 10 years later. Some could say that we were too young and dumb because we solidified our love with a kiss, sitting on the Syracuse kissing bench together after less than a year of dating. For those who don't know, the Syracuse kissing bench is an iconic part of the university's campus, specifically for the romantics. Originally a gift from the class of 1912, the bench began to spur a legend among Syracuse students and alumni. The legend soon became that kissing on the bench leads to marriage. Safe to say that through Liz and Matt, the legend will carry on.
