Though Matt and Liz both attended Downers Grove South High School, it was not until college that they met. Their mutual friend James was visiting Matt at Indiana University when James invited Liz to join them at a party. It clearly didn't take Matt long to be smitten, as he asked Liz out that same night.

Matt and Liz took a trip back to Indiana University - this time with their dog Bowie in tow. While walking through IU's picturesque campus, Matt stopped at a gazebo stocked with flowers and champagne to pop the question.
