Weekend traffic into SD is absolutely terrible, so leave LA early Friday morning to avoid traffic or Thursday night to make sure you aren't stuck in traffic half the day.
The church and the venue are only 2 miles away from our place so make sure to find a place to stay in the mission valley area. It's centrally located and close to everything!
Yes, early check-in is $50 from 12p-4p and extra early check-in is $65 before 12 noon while room rates last. There is enough of a gap between the ceremony and venue to check in between the events. You can change out of your church clothes and into your party clothes during the break.
The church has plenty of parking in multiple levels. There is an additional lot between the main church Mission Alcala and the St. Francis Chapel. You can access the lot by going up the hill by turning left towards the church right before the start of the lower lot. You can also find additional parking if keep going along San Diego Mission Rd past the lower lot heading east and turning left where the sign indicates additional parking (the sign is very small) right before the river. If you go past the river you went too far. The reception venue has limited parking in the surrounding area so it's best to uber or lyft. However, there will be a parking lot available for guests to use until it fills up.
San Diego is always flip flop and sweater weather so pack layers. November is not cold during the day but the temperature drops about 30 degrees when the sun sets. The sunset will be at 5:55 in the middle of cocktail hour but the reception will be inside. Light jacket highly recommended.
Tuxedos and evening gowns are preferred, but not required. We want you to look and feel your best so wear your fanciest outfit. Formal suits and cocktail dresses are welcome if that is more your style. We are getting married in a Catholic Church so please be respectful of their rules and cover up. You can let loose on the dance floor but not at church. Please no jeans, flip-flops, t-shirts or fachosos. Thank you!
Yes, the event is kid friendly so bring your kiddos. Please let us know if you are planning to bring them so we can set up a kid area at the venue to accommodate all of the kids that will be attending so the adults can enjoy themselves.
