It all began at Liz’s best friend Jennifer’s birthday party — one of those nights you show up just to celebrate, not realizing it might change everything. I wasn’t looking for anything in particular; honestly, I didn’t even know most of the people there. But when I met Liz, I couldn’t help but notice how her eyes seemed to shine every time she smiled. I thought she was really cute from the start — though it took a little bit of liquid courage before I worked up the nerve to actually talk to her. As for Liz, she thought I was pretty cute too… but she’ll also tell you she pegged me right away as some kind of player — the guy with the motorcycle and the “f-boy” look. It didn’t take long, though, for her to realize she’d been bamboozled. Turns out, I was just a dorky guy who’d rather be home on his computer than out trying to impress anyone. The night eventually led us to Tongue & Groove, where the music was loud, the energy was high, and somewhere between the dancing and laughter, something just clicked. IYKYK 😉 By the end of the night, I wasn’t feeling my best (okay… I got very sick), but Liz was right there making sure I was okay every second of the night — a small but unforgettable gesture that said so much about who she is. The next day, we agreed to grab pho — our people’s signature dish. One lunch turned into hours of conversation, laughter, and the start of something we both knew was special.
