FAQs

Question

What should I wear to the wedding?

Answer

Celebrate with us in style! We invite our guests to lean into Black Tie Optional attire with a colorful twist. Floor-length dresses and suits with ties are perfect, especially in bright summer hues and fun fabrics. You bring the color; we’ll bring the party! The Terrain: On Friday, our Welcome Party is on grass. On Saturday, our ceremony and cocktails are on grass, with dinner and dancing to follow on the tent's wooden floor. Choose your footwear accordingly.

Question

Where are the wedding events?

Answer

The Welcome Party (Friday, August 28) and Wedding Ceremony & Reception (Saturday, August 29) will take place at the Clifton Inn, located at 1296 Clifton Inn Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22911.

Question

How should we get to the weekend events?

Answer

Shuttle service will be provided for Friday and Saturday events from our room block hotels (The Draftsman and Fairfield Inn & Suites) to the Clifton Inn. Visit the Travel page for pick-up and departure details.

Question

Is parking available at the Clifton Inn?

Answer

On-site parking is extremely limited. We strongly encourage guests to take advantage of the hotel shuttles whenever possible. If driving is necessary, please plan to use a rideshare service.

Question

What is the best way to see the rest of Charlottesville?

Answer

Our block hotels are within walking distance of the Downtown Mall and UVA. For wineries or Monticello, we recommend the Cville Hop On Tour or a quick Uber. Just a heads up: rideshares are easy to find downtown but unreliable for return trips from the countryside late at night.

Question

Where should we stay?

Answer

We’ve reserved room blocks at The Draftsman and Fairfield Inn & Suites in Charlottesville. For more details, visit the Travel page.

Question

What’s the best way to get to Charlottesville?

Answer

You can fly into Charlottesville (CHO), Richmond (RIC), or DC (IAD/DCA). Amtrak also offers direct service right into downtown. Please visit our Travel page for airport drive times and hotel proximity.

Question

What's the history of the Clifton Inn?

Answer

(Was anyone else wondering?! Just us? Okay.) It dates back to around 1799 and was originally built as a private residence for Martha Jefferson Randolph and her husband. Over the years, the property has served as everything from a family home to a gathering place for notable guests. Today, it’s a thoughtfully restored historic estate and the setting for all of our wedding festivities.
