There are lots of great shops and restaurants to try right in town. It's worth a morning or an afternoon of walking around the cobblestone streets just see where you end up. Some great stores to check out: Erica Wilson, 25 Main Street Atlantic, 16 Federal Street Nantucket Looms, 51 Main Street Murray's Toggery, 62 Main Street Milly & Grace, 2 Washington Street Bodega, 2 Candle Street CJ Laing, 44 Center Street
Madaket Beach: On the far west end of the island. A great place for surfing and catching the sunset. Be sure to stop by Millie's for a margarita and a taco while you're out there. Madequecham Beach: Our summertime go-to. Just a 10 to 15 minute drive from Sconset, Madequcham faces South to the open Atlantic, has beautiful high dunes, gentle waves and the crowds are usually pretty reasonable. Sconset Beach: The spot where we got engaged! A short walk from the Stones' house or Wade Cottages, you should definitely check out the beach while you're in the area.
A well known spot for large and delicious sandwiches, often using many local ingredients. They make all of their own bread, which is sold all over the island. If you're looking for a traditional sized sandwich, order a HALF sandwich.
Like a good piece of scrimshaw? Or maybe just the general romance of the old-time fishing community that forged the town of Nantucket? The Whaling Museum is just the place for you! Located in the center of town, the museum is a beautiful space dedicated to the rich history of whaling on the island.
The Wauwinet is a beautiful hotel located right on the water. About a 10 minute drive from Sconset, it's a great place to head for a sunset. They have a beautiful lawn where you can sit, enjoy the views, have a great cocktail and some appetizers. Maybe even roll right into dinner at Toppers, their patio restaurant.
