It was an odd night for the both of us. It was his junior prom and I was the freshman he sat next to at the table. I hardly paid any attention to him and I was super nervous to be there int he first place, yet i remeber our first encounter. I had dropped my shawl on the ground, he had bent over to pick it up and handed it to me. I remember those piercing green eyes and his tall stature. He looked very intimidating to say the least. The night when on and i focused mainly on my date at the time. I wasnt having much fun and i noticed this tall brooding guy was sitting alone. After sometime i approached him and asked if he was alright, he responeded with a nod. At that same moment, Let it Go from frozen began playing, and of course it was my duty to make this guy smile. So I belted out the song. To my surprise he joined in from what he knew. And we sang. After that night I was so intrigued by who this guy was and all i knew was his first name, Jake. I looked everywhere at school and on facebook to find someone who looked like this guy. And then i found him, Jacob Gholson, a trumpter in band, a soccer jock. I would wait in the halls to just see a glimpse of him. And then one night I decided to ask if he was okay after that night. And that is how the whole story started. 3 years of long distance, 5 years together, we made it to now. A love story I’m so proud to tell.
We had talked about wanting to get married for years, probably on our second or third date. We knew we loved each other and that was that. We wanted to spend our lives together. Yet, we were always so far away, as in 1,200 miles away. I moved back to be closer to him and yet he was still a few hour drive away from me. On nights I vistied we would talk about proposals and rings. It was a happy thought. We were planning a Disney trip in the upcoming months but we were college students, there was no way we could afford it. The day came to do to Disney world. It was our first vacation together, just the two of us. I was looing foward to just being a couple. Everything about the trip was magical. We had planned one fancy dinner because we dont eat out very much. We had picked out nice out fits and such and headed out. Jake wanted a picture of the two of us in front of this beautiful waterfall, and since we didn’t take many photos, i was happy to agree. We saw this older couple coming up and jake asked them to take a picture, they were happy to! He began taking photos and just before they were about to hand the phone back to jake, Jake put his hand up for them to stay put, turned to me and got down on one knee. He holds out the most Beautiful rose gold ring with leafs and three diamonds. I had my hands over my face and barley choked out the word yes before smothering him in a hug! The older couple began cheering and congragulating us. I cried from happiness, jake was teary eyed too. I was going to be marrying my best friend.
