It was a normal Saturday during Summer 2020. We were taking the pontoon out to meet some friends over at Captains Quarters, or so I thought. We got about half way across the river when the boat "stopped" and Garrett said we were having engine issues. He asked me to look on the motor and get the serial number for him (I had no idea why I was doing this because I didn't know how it was going to help our current situation). I about fell in the water trying to bend over the back of the boat to find this supposed serial number, when in typical Lizzie fashion, I turned around to yell at Garrett to help me and BAM! I don't even remember him actually saying "Will you marry me?" I remember him sitting on the back bench seat, looking like a deer in headlights and he asked "Do you want to get married?" He swears it didn't happen like that, so if you want his version of the story, feel free to ask. For those of you who are dying to know if my emotionless soul cried, I did not. I laughed hysterically because even though I had an itch that it was coming, I never thought it would happen like that. But I wouldn't change a thing. We continued the day with lunch at our favorite river spot, Cunningham's Creekside and went on a boat ride. At that point, I was feeling pretty fulfilled and like the day couldn't possibly get any better. I was wrong. We headed back to the marina where all of our friends and family members were congregated, ready to celebrate! It was the most perfect night and definitely set the bar for September 25th.
