High Altitude Guidance

Altitude sickness can affect anyone at altitudes above 7,000ft. The town of Breckenridge is at 9,600ft and our wedding venue is at 10,000ft. In most cases, rest & hydration will relieve any symptoms. Sensible precautionary measures include sticking to mild activities, drinking plenty of water, avoiding heavy foods (such as carbohydrates) & avoiding alcohol for your first days at altitude. Preventative medications such as Acetazolamide (Diamox®), if started 24 hours prior to coming to altitude can alleviate altitude sickness. If you have concerns or need more info, please consult with your physician prior to travel. Many of our friends who visit from Sea Level take Diamox and it helps them enjoy Breckendridge much more! If you suffer from a respiratory disorder, sleeping with medical grade oxygen is highly recommended. Our friends at High Altitude Mobile Medical (970) 389-7999 offer a 50% discount for oxygenators if you mention Kelly-Luthringer Wedding.
