Things To Do

Here are a few recommendations for things to do, places to visit, and restaurants that we have especially enjoyed in our time in Louisville.

Kentucky Derby Festival

As our wedding is a week before the Kentucky Derby, there are numerous events throughout Louisville to be aware of and to visit in your free time. April 23-25 is a hot air balloon glow and race. In the morning of April 25th is the KDF Marathon/miniMarathon that will result in numerous road closures in downtown Louisville. To check a full list of Festival events, and road closures, visit www.kdf.org.

Cherokee Triangle Art Fair (April 25-26)

Large, juried art fair with vendors, food, and entertainment. Takes place in the historic Cherokee Triangle neighborhood, just around the corner from where Evan grew up!

Louisville Slugger Museum

The factory makes bats for many Major League Baseball players. A must visit for any baseball aficionado.

Belle of Louisville

Historic riverboat that offers a variety of tours and cruises on the Ohio River.

Distillery Tour

In the home of bourbon, there is seemingly a distillery on every corner (only a slight exaggeration). A tour and tasting is worthwhile though and available at every distillery. Pick your favorite brand or ask us for recommendations if you're interested! Evan Williams, Angel's Envy, and Copper & Kings have some of the best tours in town. The big hitters (Maker's Mark, Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve, and Four Roses) are all out of town, but within a 30-45 minute drive.

PG&J's Dog Bar

Is it a dog park? Is it a bar? Why not both! One of Cannoli's favorite places in the world, this bar is open to people (with or without dogs). Get food to go from one of the many nearby restaurants and enjoy a couple drinks while watching the dogs play.

South Seas Tiki Bar and MiniGolf

One of our favorite places. Wide variety of food, with vegetarian friendly options, fun tropical drinks, and a surprisingly challenging minigolf course.

Jack Fry's

Upscale Louisville classic for those wanting to splurge a little. Make a reservation well in advance, they book up weeks out.

The Last Refuge

Bourbon bar in a renovated church in the trendy Nulu neighborhood. Creative cocktails meet spectacular architecture.

Toasty's Tavern

Under the radar treasure. Best spot in town for casual food, including a surprisingly varied vegetarian menu.

The Grales

Nestled in the Highlands, this complex of three historic buildings contains a brunch location, a restaurant, and a wine bar all connected by a beer garden. No matter the time of day, there is always a reason to visit The Grales.
