On November 6, 2021, in Petit Jean, Arkansas, Dylan and Liz arrived as strangers at Leslie and Bradley’s wedding with exactly one goal; celebrate the happy couple. Liz planned to stay overnight with the wedding party to avoid driving in the dark (a lifelong fear), while Dylan volunteered his bartending skills (enthusiastically, confidently, and completely unlicensed) as a favor to his best friend JJ’s family. They sat through a stunning mountaintop ceremony with no idea their lives were about to change. Dylan took his place behind the bar with a homemade beer and an infectious smile. Liz, who was sent on a very subtle mission by her mom to “go talk to the cute bartender” wandered over in sunglasses. What began as a quick question about which beer to try turned into laughs, multiple grape juice refills, and Liz unofficially becoming a regular at Dylan's bar. As the night rolled on, they danced, sang Johnny Cash around a fire, bonded over Dylan’s pun-filled Spotify playlists, and attempted to throw rocks off the dark cliffside. Later, Dylan asked Liz if she wanted to see something. Under a star-filled sky at a cliffside overlook, he asked her to dance and played the first Stevie Nicks song he could find “Dreams,” of course. No longer strangers, they swayed under the stars as the butterflies flew in. They spent the rest of the night talking by candlelight, squeezed into a twin-sized bed, completely forgetting about time; helped along by an extra hour thanks to daylight saving time. The next morning, they exchanged numbers, played checkers outside a Cracker Barrel (as one does), and leaned against a car making plans they insisted were casual. Long distance quickly turned into weekend trips, trampoline parks, cheesecake, movies, beer, and a love that never slowed down. From Tennessee to North Carolina, from apartments to houses, they kept choosing each other and building a life together. In the spring of 2024, that journey led them to London and Paris, where Dylan, only slightly nervous, asked Liz to be his wife in front of the sparkling Eiffel Tower. Liz answered with an immediate and enthusiastic, “Of course!” And now here we are. So grateful for the love, laughter, and perfectly timed grape juice refills that brought us here, and so excited to celebrate the next chapter with you! Best wedding favor ever.
