Her Side

November 24, 2015

We met at a Bible study that Daniel started at his house on November 24, 2015. Daniel had just graduated from Auburn, and had moved back home to Dothan for his new job. I was home from Auburn for Thanksgiving break. Daniel's brother, Luke, and I are best friends. Luke invited some other friends and me to go to Daniel's Bible study while we were home on break. Daniel and I met that night, but it wasn't until Daniel's Christmas party a few weeks later that our relationship really began. I remember my feelings for Daniel were immediate. He asked me on our first date on December 20, 2015. He asked me if I wanted to go to his family's farm land to shoot guns (I had no idea how to even load a gun). I didn't care what we were doing as long as I got to be with him. I went back to college after Christmas break and we decided to stay friends. It wasn't until that following summer that we reconnected, and on July 11, 2016 we began dating. It has been such an adventure being with Daniel, and on April 1, 2018 I said "yes" to continuing this adventure for the rest of our lives. We are so excited for this new chapter in our lives and to get married on June 1, 2019!

His Side

I knew who Elizabeth was from playing football with her older brother and because my brother and her were such good friends, but I didn't really know her. That all changed on a Tuesday night in November 2015 when she showed up to my house for a college Bible study I had started shortly after moving back to Dothan. I had recently graduated from Auburn and moved back to Dothan where I had taken a job right out of school. As Elizabeth, my brother, and some other friends sat on the couch cutting up during the Bible study, something about Elizabeth caught my attention. It could easily have been her soft blue eyes, or her exotic red hair, but regardless, I was intrigued. A couple weeks later, she came back to my house for a Christmas party. Everything was chill until we met on the dance floor. She taught me how to swing dance, and we were in our own little world for the rest of the night. After that night, we hung out every day while she was home for Christmas break. I knew I really liked Elizabeth, but because she was still at Auburn, we decided not to pursue a relationship. We stopped talking for about six months until she came back to Dothan for the summer. Because of the way we left things back in January, she was playing "hard-to-get". After hanging out some more I told myself it was time to man up and make this beautiful girl my girlfriend. She agreed and so we became Facebook official. After we started dating, we shortly realized we are exact opposites of each other, but we always are able to find common ground. After much prayer, I knew this was the woman God had for me and I didn't want to spend my life with anyone else. On April 1, I decided to take the next step (with her parent's blessing) by asking Elizabeth if she would marry me. She said yes and the wedding planning began almost in the same breath. I can honestly say I love Elizabeth more now than I ever have throughout the time I've known her. I'm stoked to marry her and begin our life together!
