The Lawn at the University of Virginia was designed by Thomas Jefferson to resemble an "academic village" where professors and students live side by side. It is the center of University Life and extends out with ten public gardens. We began our relationship with a date on the lawn and Dahler proposed in Garden VI.
Just minutes from downtown Charlottesville and Monticello, visitors overlook some of the most breathtaking views of Albemarle County below. In our opinion, Carter's Mountain offers the best cider donuts in the Commonwealth, as well as the best public overlook of the city of Charlottesville. This was one of our earliest date spots where Dahler and Elizabeth fell in love.
Beaver Creek is one of Elizabeth's favorite parks outside of Charlottesville. In fact, she bought two kayaks and a roof rack for her Jeep just to explore the Reservoir further! The 219-acre park offers an amazing lake and hiking, all within minutes of downtown Charlottesville.
Located 30 minutes west of Charlottesville, Pollak is one of the wineries along Virginia’s Monticello Wine Trail. This is Elizabeth's favorite winery with amazing views of the Shenandoah mountains. Dahler even met Elizabeth's parents here for the first time.
Pro Re Nata is one of Dahler's favorite breweries and is one of the best spots in Crozet, a cute city just west of Charlottesville. It has great brews, a relaxing atmosphere, and a more rural feel due to its location in the Virginia countryside. If interested, go to downtown Crozet and visit Crozet Pizza afterward!
