FAQs

Question

I can't make it to Thailand, but I still want to celebrate with you guys!

Answer

We understand that going to Thailand is a big ask, and we don't want anyone to be left out. We will be having a celebration in Miami in late 2026, more info to come!

Question

What is the currency in Thailand and how do I get cash?

Answer

The currency in Thailand is Thai Baht, where $1 USD converts to ฿31 Thai Baht. Throughout your trip, you can use your phone calculator to convert currency or divide the Thai Baht amount by 0.03. When entering Thailand, you should bring US cash (preferably in $100 bills) to convert to Baht. You can exchange your currency in Skytrain stations like SuperRich (Chit Lom, Asok, or in BKK Airport), VASU Exchange (Nana), or Siam exchange for a better exchange rate. If you run out of US cash, you can use accepted credit/debit cards (mostly Visa & Mastercard) to get more Thai Baht through an ATM. However, these ATMS have high fees($6-7 per transaction), so try to get out as much cash as possible within one transaction.

Question

How is traveling within Thailand? What and when is the best time to get around the city?

Answer

There are many forms of transportation to get around Thailand, with the easiest mode of transportation being Grab (ride service app). Rides within the city can cost as low as $2 and up to $25 for airport services. See this link for more info: https://my.trip.com/blog/thailand-grab-app-tips/?locale=en_my. You can also get around through regular taxis, tuk-tuks, BTS Skytrain, MRT Subway, and boat rides. There is heavy traffic around Bangkok, peaking from 7-9am and 5-7:30pm. This is a good thing to consider when planning certain excursions with strict timing or to get to the airport on your way home.

Question

What is the food scene like in Thailand?

Answer

Thailand is known for their street food presence and almost everything you can imagine eating can be purchased through vendors on every busy street. Make sure you bring cash whenever you go out and take advantage of the fresh juices, grilled meat, delicious desserts, soups, and noodles that Thailand has to offer. Restaurants also range from being extremely inexpensive ($5-8 meals) to regularly priced for up-scale dining. If you have food sensitivities, I would recommend bringing some Dramamine, anti-acids, or antihistamines just in case your body needs to adjust to the new environment.

Question

What is the weather like in Thailand at this time of year?

Answer

In August, Bangkok is hot, humid, and in its rainy season, with temperatures generally ranging between 77°F and 91°F. There will be relatively frequent, but short-lived afternoon rain, with sunshine throughout the day (very similar to Miami). For our wedding, we have a backup venue that is indoors in the case of bad weather, however it rarely rains the entire day in Thailand. Please bring an umbrella, poncho, and/or waterproof shoes to prepare for this.

Question

I would love to attend this wedding but the flight is out of my financial means. Would I be able to get assistance on this?

Answer

Yes! More than anything, we would want to spend the day with everyone we have invited and we understand this event will take a big portion of time, money, and/or PTO. Please talk to Austin or I if you need financial assistance, we will try our best to accommodate whatever you need to feel comfortable.
