Our story begins on the beach. On Memorial Weekend of 2022, Elizabeth’s brother, Will, invited her to go to Fiesta Hermosa in Hermosa Beach with some friends. This was at the tail end of COVID and although Will had invited her out a number of times to hangout with some of his friends that she grew up with or had met before, Elizabeth typically said no and stayed at home instead. Will said “Just come out this one time. I promise it’ll be fun.” So she decided to go. When Elizabeth got to the beach she ended up meeting Alex shortly after. They chatted and laughed, and seemed to have the same sense of humor. Both of them figured they were just talking as friends. As the day went on, the group transitioned into going out. By the end of the night, Alex and Elizabeth had been hanging out quite a bit and Alex asked for her number. He invited her to weekly Thursday night volleyball. The first volleyball Elizabeth went to, she realized how many people they mutually knew (some people she went to high-school with and some she had met 6 years before through her brother), and they wondered how they had not met yet. After a little less than a month of going to volleyball, Elizabeth and Alex celebrated some friends’ birthdays and Alex told her that he “had a big crush on her,” to which she responded with “Guess what…me too.” Their first date was oysters on Saturday June 25th, followed by their second date the very next day, and their third on that Tuesday. Alex and Elizabeth shortly realized how much they had in common and how they were the real deal. As time went by, they traveled, camped, skied, and adventured together. After their first international trip to England and Greece about a year after dating, they both fully realized that they wanted to marry each other.
